About TMAS

TMAS Insurance Brokers Co. Limited — an insurance broking and risk management consulting firm at NHC House, Samora Street, Dar es Salaam.

The company

In business to help clients see what a loss would really cost

TMAS Insurance Brokers Co. Limited is an insurance broking and risk management consulting firm located at NHC House, 6th Floor, Room 6023, Samora Street, Dar es Salaam. The company was incorporated in 2015.

We are in business to help individual and commercial customers determine what lies above and beyond their expectations in the event of a financial or physical loss — and to put cover in place before that day arrives.

We do business on a personal basis. That is what allows us to deliver a high level of service, to match products to a customer's actual needs rather than to a standard template, and to respond faster in the event of a claim.

Mission, vision & values

What we set out to do

Our mission

To provide our customers with excellence in consultation and competitively priced quality insurance products, and to service those products beyond their expectations.

Our vision

We are committed to meeting the needs and expectations of our customers by providing responsive, reliable and affordable service, and always acting with the highest level of integrity.

Our core values

Highly quality insurance products and services delivered to our customers' satisfaction; cost-effective solutions and ongoing support through an experienced team of advisers and support staff; and constant improvement of the service.

"We are not only capable of suggesting the best suited insurance policy for you — we are also honest and ethically responsible."

Our key philosophy

Seven principles we work to

The provision of risk and insurance management and advisory services with a personal touch. We differentiate ourselves from other brokers by committing dedicated personal attention to each client.

1

Concept

Risk and insurance management and advisory services delivered with a personal touch, and dedicated personal attention committed to each client.

2

Partnership

A positive intuition should tell customers they made the right choice in doing business with us. Our client is paramount. We perform with an attitude of partnership, always acting on their behalf as a professional extension of their own capability.

3

Objective

The provision of creative solutions to risk financing and insurance problems, supported by a high standard of excellence and professional service.

4

Role

To understand our client's business. As risk advisers or managers, to assist them in managing their physical and financial risk on the most advantageous terms, while taking full account of their needs and their financial capability to accept risk.

5

Strategy

To function in partnership with clients. To be appreciated as more than just a service provider — to be recognised and trusted as an extension of the client's business, as their risk and insurance office.

6

Adding value

Our primary role is that of risk manager, adding value in that capacity. We do not profess to have the internal skills to provide every peripheral service that may be needed, nor do we believe we should. Our role is best suited to managing the risk and insurance affairs of clients, identifying and seeking out those services from the best available when they are needed.

7

Insurance claims

Insurance represents a promise to pay. We work actively with our clients, minimising their stress by managing the claim process. We advise on the necessary actions, prepare and collate the required documentation, and ensure smooth settlement of the claim.

Our work plan

How TMAS works through the insurance year

Preliminaries

Our work plan starts with understanding the requirements of the individual client for the whole year of the insurance period. A visit — or visits — to the client's sites constitute an integral part of this groundwork.

TMAS then carries out a risk and insurance cover survey on the client's risk and interest, and gives recommendations on risk reduction measures which considerably reduce premium rates and the computed premium. The client is served with a proposed rate by the earliest means. In addition, TMAS keeps up-to-date records of unsettled claims and indicates the anticipated date of settlement. A meeting is held to discuss premium payments.

TMAS prepares insurance covers a week before inception or renewal date, so that a client does not at any moment find themselves operating without insurance protection.

Methodology

We make regular visits to corporate clients for the following purposes:

  • Servicing claims, inspections of risk management, and effecting any mid-term adjustment — which may include providing cover for newly acquired properties
  • Inspection of safety equipment and consultation on risk management
  • Submission of a professional report to the client, discussed at the client's premises
  • Identifying new risks, advising the client on risk improvement, and furnishing them with renewal notices
  • Effecting covers, in which premium negotiations assume immense significance — based on indicators such as an up-to-date survey measure, including the installation and servicing of fire fighting equipment

Based on this work plan and methodology, we also provide various insurance products in relation to each client's requirements.

Our role as broker, consultant & intermediary

What appointing TMAS actually means

As a reputable firm, TMAS structures the provision of insurance services throughout the country and assists in bringing quality insurance services to your organisation.

Because we have access to the insurance companies in the market, we survey that market on your behalf to obtain the most suitable and competitive terms. We then effect placement of the cover with a selected and mutually agreed underwriter, and take care of servicing and administering the portfolio on your behalf throughout the period of insurance.

The involvement of TMAS does not in any way increase the cost of your insurance. In fact it reduces that cost, since the most competitive terms are obtained through market surveys conducted locally and regionally. As compensation, the insurance company pays commission to TMAS — and that commission is not an additional cost to your organisation.

Three key areas in every programme

To ensure a client's needs and requirements are sufficiently addressed, we lay emphasis on:

  • Scope — the relevance of the cover provided to the actual need
  • Cost — of securing the programme or scheme
  • Service — the level of service delivered afterwards

Legal status. Business licence, TIN certificate, valid insurance registration certificate and certificate of incorporation are held by the company and provided with tender submissions on request.

Bring us your current cover

We will review the policy you already hold, tell you where it is strong and where it is thin, and let you know whether the market can do better at renewal.
