Who we are

A broker, a risk adviser, and an extension of your own office

TMAS was incorporated in 2015 to help individual and commercial clients identify what a financial or physical loss would really cost them — and to put the right cover in place before it happens.

We do business on a personal basis. That is what lets us deliver a high level of service, match products to a client's actual needs rather than a standard template, and respond faster in the event of a claim.

Our key philosophy

What differentiates us from other brokers

Risk and insurance management delivered with a personal touch — dedicated attention committed to each client.

Partnership

We act with an attitude of partnership, always on our client's behalf, as a professional extension of their own capability. Our client is paramount.

Objective

Creative solutions to risk financing and insurance problems, supported by a high standard of excellence and professional service.

Role

To understand our client's business, and as risk advisers help them manage physical and financial risk on the most advantageous terms — taking full account of their capacity to accept risk.

Strategy

To be appreciated as more than a service provider: recognised and trusted as an extension of the client's business — their risk and insurance office.

Adding value

We do not profess to hold every peripheral skill in-house, nor do we believe we should. Our role is to manage the risk and insurance affairs of clients and seek out the best available services when they are needed.

Claims

Insurance represents a promise to pay. We minimise our clients' stress by managing the claim process, advising on necessary action and collating documentation for smooth settlement.

Person to person

We do business across a desk, not across a form

Every risk is somebody's livelihood. That is why we sit down with clients, go through what they own and what they do, and explain in plain language where a policy protects them and where it stops.

“Insurance represents a promise to pay. Our job is to make sure that promise is kept.”

How we work

From survey to settlement

I

Understand

Our work plan begins with understanding your requirements for the whole insurance year. Visits to your sites are an integral part of this groundwork.

II

Survey

We carry out a risk and insurance cover survey, recommend risk reduction measures that lower your premium, and serve you with a proposed rate at the earliest opportunity.

III

Place

We effect cover with a selected and mutually agreed underwriter, preparing the policy a week before inception or renewal so you are never left unprotected.

IV

Service

Portfolio administration, mid-term adjustments, renewal notices and claims processing on your behalf, throughout the period of insurance.

What it costs you

Using a broker does not add to your premium

The involvement of TMAS does not in any way increase the cost of your insurance. In practice it reduces it, because the most competitive terms are obtained through surveying the market locally and regionally.

As compensation for acquiring clients on their behalf and providing the required services, the insurance company pays commission to TMAS. That commission is not an additional cost to your organisation.

Three things we weigh on every programme

  • Scope — that the cover provided genuinely matches the need
  • Cost — the price of securing the programme or scheme
  • Service — the level of service actually delivered afterwards
Common questions

Straight answers

Does using a broker cost me more?

No. Brokers are remunerated by commission paid by the insurance company, built into the premium the insurer charges. It is not an additional cost to you — and because we survey the market on your behalf, the terms we obtain are usually more competitive than buying direct.

Which insurers do you place business with?

TMAS has access to the insurance companies operating in the Tanzanian market. Cover is effected with a selected and mutually agreed underwriter — you will always know which company carries your risk and why we recommended them.

How quickly can motor cover be arranged?

For straightforward private motor, cover can usually be arranged the same working day once we have the vehicle details, registration card and payment. Fleets and unusual risks take longer because they require underwriter referral and, often, a site survey.

What do I do first if I have an accident?

Make sure everyone is safe, report to the nearest police station, photograph the scene before anything is moved, and contact us the same day. Do not authorise repairs before the insurer's assessor has inspected. Full guidance is on our claims page.

Can you review a policy I already hold elsewhere?

Yes. We can review an existing policy, identify where the cover is thin, and take over servicing it at renewal — or place it elsewhere if the market offers better terms. We also maintain up-to-date records of unsettled claims and indicate the anticipated date of settlement.

Let us survey your risk

Tell us what you own or what your organisation does. We will identify what is worth insuring, what it should cost, and where your current cover falls short.
